Fun Way To Get Kids Excited About Training

My nephew just started flag football and my sister asked if I had any recommendations for helping with his strength and agility (he isn’t the most agile kid in the world but I still love him to pieces).   He may move up to pee-wee football next year and my sister wants him to get a jump start on the other little guys.   (See, I’m not the only competitive one in the family.)

As many of you know I’m a big proponent of safe and proper strength & conditioning for kids.  One thing that you need to be careful with is that they don’t overdo the training.  Kids think they’re invincible but they can really get hurt if they’re not doing the exercises properly.  Before we left Illinois our son worked with a personal trainer in Schaumburg named Justin Curry.  Our son loved meeting with Justin because it was like an extra gym class for the day.  The video below is from Justin’s Youtube page and it’s an example of one of the exercises for kids that our son also loved.

My advice to my sister is the same as my advice to you.  Get your kids exercising and moving to not only help with their sports performance but also with their health.  Start them off on the right track and find a great personal trainer that can keep them motivated and having fun.

I’ll add some pictures from my nephew’s game and let you know how his training is going.

Cheers!…
